Lilith and Chiron in Astrology: The Shadow and the Wound

Every birth chart has two points that most people either ignore or are slightly afraid of, my loves: Lilith and Chiron. One is your inner rebel, the other is your oldest wound. They sound intimidating, I know — like the two characters in a film you hope don’t get their own scene. But here is the secret: these are two of the most powerful gifts in your entire chart. Let me introduce you to them properly, and then, because I believe in practicing what I teach, I will show you my own.
Lilith in Astrology: Your Inner Rebel
Lilith comes from an old, wonderfully dramatic myth. In one story she was Adam’s first wife, created equal to him — who, when told to take the lesser role, essentially said “absolutely not,” spoke a word of power, and flew off. Iconic behavior, honestly.
In your chart, Lilith marks the part of you that was told it was too much — too intense, too loud, too wild, too honest — and so it went quietly underground. She is your refused power, your untamed authenticity, the self you were taught to shrink. She is not here to make you misbehave. She is here so you stop apologizing for being fully yourself. Her sign shows the flavor of what you buried, and her house shows the area of life where you were told to be smaller.
Chiron in Astrology: The Wounded Healer
Chiron was a centaur in Greek myth — but not the rowdy kind. He was wise, gentle, a healer and teacher to heroes. The heartbreaking twist is that Chiron carried one wound he could never fully heal in himself, even as he healed everyone else.

That is exactly what Chiron means in your chart: a deep, tender place that aches, often since childhood. Here is the beautiful paradox, though. The very wound you cannot fully cure becomes the source of your greatest gift to others. The place you have hurt is the place you understand most deeply — and so it is the place you can heal for other people. Chiron does not promise the wound disappears; it promises the wound becomes wisdom. His sign shows the kind of wound, and his house shows where in life it lives.
Why You Need Both Lilith and Chiron
Lilith and Chiron are two halves of the same sacred work. Lilith says: reclaim the power you were told to hide. Chiron says: heal the wound you were given.
Together they are the whole shadow journey. Lilith hands you back your fire; Chiron teaches you what to do with the scars. Ignore them and they run the show from the basement — Lilith as sudden rebellion, Chiron as an ache you keep tripping over. Welcome them, and they become your authenticity and your healing power. This is not fortune-telling. It is transformation.
A Personal Note From Me
Because I never want to teach anything I have not sat with myself, let me show you my own two points — Chiron in my 11th house, and Lilith in my 10th.
My Chiron sits in the 11th house — the house of community, friendship, and belonging. In plain language: my old wound is about fitting in, about being part of the group. And I will be honest, for a long time it was the classic Chiron move of feeling like the eternal outsider at the party, mentally rehearsing my exit before I had even taken off my coat. But here is what Chiron does: the very place you were wounded becomes the very thing you give. The wound of belonging quietly turned into a life spent building belonging for others — which is, in the end, exactly what this academy is. The outsider grew up to make the room where everyone is welcome. Chiron, you sneaky teacher.

And my Lilith is in the 10th house — the house of career, reputation, and public life. That is the part of me that flatly refused to fit the tidy professional mold I was handed, the respectable little job description someone else had in mind. A 10th-house Lilith will not be quietly slotted into a role that is not hers; she has to build her authority on her own terms or not at all. For years that felt like rebellion; now I know it was simply refusing to disappear into someone else’s idea of a career. So of course I ended up carving my own path — an astrologer and hypnotherapist with her own academy, rather than a title handed to me by anyone. So there you have it: wounded in belonging, untamed in my calling — and somehow the two made a woman who builds a whole community and still answers only to her own authority. The chart, as always, was not subtle.
How to Work With Your Lilith and Chiron
You do not need to fear these points, my loves — you need to befriend them. Start simply.
Find your Lilith and Chiron by sign and house (any birth chart calculator will show them). Read your Lilith and ask gently: where was I told to be smaller, and what would it look like to take up that space again? Read your Chiron and ask: where do I ache — and who might I be able to help precisely because I have been there? These questions can stir deep things, which is why in my own work I often pair them with hypnotherapy, to speak kindly to the part of you that has carried the wound for so long. Go slowly, and be tender with yourself. You are meeting the bravest parts of you.
Meet Your Shadows
Lilith and Chiron are not the villains of your chart. They are the exiled hero and the wise healer — and both of them have been waiting a long time for you to say hello.
Reclaim your fire. Honor your wound. Let the two of them turn into your authenticity and your gift.
If you would love to meet your own Lilith and Chiron — where they live, what they are asking, and how to gently work with them — you can go deeper in our Religious & Esoteric Astrology course, or book a personal natal chart reading and we will find them together.
